About the career learning foundation, inc.
Founded in 2015, the mission of the Career Learning Foundation is to support access to career-focused training and educational programs, and to support efforts to understand and improve the economic outcomes from post-secondary continuing education.
EXPANDING ACCESS
In the United States, one in six workers are underemployed. These workers have limited time, often working one or more part-time or unstable jobs, for employers who generally do not provide tuition support. The fastest path to a better career - and to improve their lives and the lives of their families - is often a non-credit, open enrollment certificate program.
The Career Learning Foundation is dedicated to helping these workers enroll in continuing education. Our programs seek to provide assistance to learners for whom the cost of a university continuing education program would be a hardship.
UNDERSTANDING OUTCOMES
Working directly with those students we assist, and with leading universities providing non-credit continuing education programs, the Career Learning Foundation will support university-driven research to better understand economic and career outcomes associated with continuing education programs. It is our objective to develop data which, over time, learners may use to make better informed choices of educational programs and that institutions may use to improve the career path, satisfaction and earning outcomes of program graduates.
our organization
Career Learning Foundation, Inc. is a North Carolina non-profit corporation, founded in April 2015. The organization's president and founder is Scott Rutherford, a leader in the field of continuing professional education, including continuing legal education programs, university continuing education instruction and course development, workforce development, and organizational learning and development.
The Career Learning Foundation is committed to operations that use limited resources to maximum effect. Our bylaws limit overhead and administrative spending, specifying that at least 80% of our funds must be used directly to support our programs. This objective meets or exceeds the guidelines established by charitable watchdog groups like the Charities Review Council (our 80% minimum target is more aggressive than the "use of funds" guidelines which call for at least 65% of annual funds to be applied to programs), Charity Navigator (we aim to achieve a Charity Navigator converted score of 8 or higher, on their 10 point scale) and the American Institute of Philanthropy's CharityWatch (we strive for an A rating, achieved by operational efficiency of 80% or better). Our GuideStar profile page is here.
Career Learning Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. For documentation of our Internal Revenue Service status, you may view our IRS Letter of Determination here (PDF).
